From October 28th to November 1st, the 27th meeting of the Asia and Pacific Regional Steering Committee (RSC) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization International Hydrological Program (UNESCO IHP) was held in Jindiandu, Inner Mongolia. , Profesor Zhongbo Yu, vice chairman of the IHP China National Committee and director of the State Key Laboratory of Hydrology, Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering Science of Hohai University, was elected as the chairman of the Asia-Pacific region. Professor Zhongbo Yu has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in the field of hydrology and water resources for a long time. He served as the chief scientist of the first batch of national key research and development projects. He won 1 second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and 2 first prizes of the Dayu Water Conservancy Science and Technology Award of the Ministry of Water Resources. He published more than 250 SCI papers in international authoritative journals such as WRR, JH, and JGR, with a total of more than 5,000 citations. 29 patents have been authorized. In 2004, he was selected as a Fellow of the Geological Society of America. In 2015, he won the John Hem Science and Engineering Outstanding Contribution Award from the American Groundwater Association. IHP aims to organize member countries to implement a series of planning projects, including hydrological cycle research, the impact of human activities on the hydrological cycle, reasonable estimation and effective use of water resources, etc.; organize publications, academic conferences and regional cooperation to promote international hydrological cooperation . The governing body of the program is the Intergovernmental Council, made up of the Member States of UNESCO.
